I tried La Sandia in Tyson's corner this weekend. I am a fan of other Richard Sandoval restaurants (Zengo in DC and NY) and I happened to be in the area. Tyson's Corner center was packed. Usually there are so many people there without the holidays right around the corner but this weekend it was particularly busy.
The chipotle shrimp (shown above) was exceptionally good. The grilled shrimp were seasoned perfectly and not overdone. The shrimp sat on top of a bed of rice mixed with squash, mushrooms, tomatoes, and spices. There were pureed black beans served as a garnish.
Desert was tres leches that was served chilled and topped with whip cream and strawberries. This is one of the best tres leches cake I have ever had. The cake itself was super sweet and the strawberries were the perfect garnish because they were slightly tart.
